🔎 Why Aadhaar shows "Already mapped with UAN" error?

Unique Linkage Rule

As per EPFO rules, one Aadhaar can only be linked with one UAN.

If your Aadhaar is already linked to a UAN, the system will block any attempt to create a new UAN.

You Already Have a UAN

Most likely, when you joined your first job where EPF was applicable, your employer already created a UAN for you.

That UAN is permanently linked to your Aadhaar.

Trying to Create a Duplicate UAN

If you join a new company, sometimes HR may try to generate a fresh UAN instead of using your existing one.

In that case, Aadhaar validation fails and you get the error.

Technical / Database Sync Issues

Occasionally, Aadhaar–UAN linking data might take time to update across EPFO systems.

Until then, the system throws this error message.

✅ In short: This error means your Aadhaar is already linked to a UAN (Universal Account Number). You should recover your existing UAN instead of trying to create a new one.
