Pathologists' Assistants are unsung heroes in pathology- Among many other responsibilities, PAs perform gross examinations of specimen, which is examining and sectioning a specimen before it gets placed on a slide and viewed by a pathologist. They are the front lines of pathology, making sure the pathologist has what they need to render a correct diagnosis. I wanted to shine a light on this important profession and thought it would be a great idea to have my friend, and PA (pathologists' assistant, not physician's assistant, which is a different and equally important member of the healthcare team) Marissa Spencer share her thoughts and experience!
