Almost seven years ago, no one took Addison Rae seriously. Despite having 54 million followers on TikTok in 2020, her online popularity did not translate well when she took her first steps into acting and music. When she released her first single, “Obsessed,” she was labeled as cringe, untalented, and unworthy of the opportunities that had been given to her.

However, in 2025, the sentiment around Addison Rae has flipped. She would go from doing TikTok dances on Jimmy Fallon to performing her own songs on the show, opening and collaborating with established artists like Charli XCX and Lana Del Ray, and her debut album has charted at number four on the Billboard 200. Now, instead of people calling her music boring and generic, people are expressing their shock at how good her music has become.

So in today’s video, we’ll be analyzing the surprising rebrand of Addison Rae and why people either love it or hate it.
