Waterbuck are one of the most beautiful animals Africa has to offer. As their name suggests, waterbuck are often found in the vicinity of a water source wether it be a dam or river.
Having a very oily skin due to their hollow hair, many people have developed the misconception that waterbuck meat is sub standard. If you ever do get the chance to hunt one, take care when skinning to not let the oil from the hair get onto the meat.
Being thick skinned, heavy muscled and thick boned both calibre and bullet choice are very important. We used a 7mm rem mag with 140 grain Sierra game changers foir this hunt.
