Emergency Water Main Fail in Long Beach – Part 2

After the chaos from Part 1, we took the crew to grab lunch while waiting for the City of Long Beach to show up. During that time, the city’s emergency crew arrived and replaced the curb stop that had completely failed in the earlier shutdown attempt.

I didn’t get much video myself, but my guys were able to catch a few clips of the city working on the repair. Once the curb stop was replaced, we were finally able to continue the job.

We temporarily connected the PEX line by jumping it above and tying it back in so we could restore water to the house. After that, we installed the new pressure regulator to get the system safe and back to normal operating pressure.

This was supposed to be a simple re-pipe, but it turned into a city emergency, broken galvanized pipe, rain, and now a curb stop replacement — definitely not a typical day in Long Beach plumbing.
