Weirdest Railroad Crossings & Most Unusual Level Crossings! Exempt, Diamond In Road, 12 Tracks, Etc

America's Most Unusual Railroad Crossings. Exempt Crossing Where Train Controls Lights, Railroad Diamond In Middle Of 4 Lane Highway, 12 Track RR Crossing, Bypass Railroad Crossing, 4 Lane 65mph Railroad Crossing, Steep Crossing, Dangerous RR Crossing Removed After I Filmed There & Amtrak 10 Track Yard Crossing In Sanford, Florida.
This is a compilation video of the weirdest railroad crossings that I have filmed. The first one is an exempt railroad crossing on the Indiana & Ohio Railway in Ohio. At the time I filmed this the train had to stop at the crossing and the conductor had to get off the train. He had to open a box and push a button that would give a green line side signal to the train on both sides of the crossing. It would also make the lights all go to red for the traffic along with a flashing sign. Shortly after I filmed this it was changed to where the conductor used a belt pack to change the signals. It is still exempt to this day.
I also like the highway crossing that is on a long angle. The four lane highway has a speed limit of 65 miles per hour! This is just west of Bartow, Florida on the CSX. Have you ever seen one like this?
The railroad crossing in Williamstown, Kentucky was very dangerous. It had intersections on both sides of the crossing with a red light on one side and a three way stop on the other side. Due to accidents with trains and cars this crossing was abandoned shortly after I filmed that and no longer exists.
There is a bypass railroad crossing on the Norfolk Southern Dayton District. That one is in Carlisle, Ohio. Cars or emergency vehicles can go under the crossing instead of waiting for the train. The road is very narrow but is for two way traffic. Big trucks can't use it.
Another favourite of mine is the railroad diamond that is in the middle of a 4 lane highway. Have you ever seen a railroad diamond in the middle of a busy road? That one is a CSX line in Mulberry, Florida. Both lines that use it are CSX.
The Amtrak railroad crossing is interesting. It is at a busy 10 track crossing that CSX and Amtrak both use. Look how close the car came to getting hit by the CSX train. That is Sanford, Florida where the Auto Train loads and unloads.
There is also a street running railroad crossing in Warsaw, Indiana. This one is interesting because of how fast the Norfolk Southern trains go down the middle of the road. They go track speed! Just south of this is a railroad diamond with a short line railroad.
