ICELAND Glacier Lagoon & South Coast Tour In March 🇮🇸

🌊❄️Day 3 - 26th March 2024: Glacier Lagoon & South Coast Adventure 🌊❄️
Our longest and most packed day in Iceland turned out to be the most memorable. We booked a 14-hour small group tour with Gateway to Iceland (via Get Your Guide, £162/adult, £81/kid), and it was worth every second.

The highlights:
❄️Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon: A surreal scene of massive blue icebergs drifting in still water. Absolutely breathtaking.
❄️Diamond Beach: Pieces of glistening ice scattered across black sand—a photographer’s dream and just as magical in person.
❄️ Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon: Stunning views and some fun trivia (this is where Jumpsuit by Twenty One Pilots was filmed). We only had 40 minutes here but could’ve spent hours.
❄️Hof Turf Church: A quirky little piece of Icelandic history tucked away like something from a storybook.
❄️ Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: A towering 60m cascade. We couldn’t walk behind it due to icy conditions, but the sheer power of the waterfall was incredible.
❄️ Hidden Gljúfrabúi Waterfall: A last-minute sprint through rain and a shallow stream led to this hidden gem. The setting was magical—like stepping into another world.

The day started snowy, so our first stop in Vik was brief, but we came back later when the weather cleared. Seeing the red-roofed church on the hill was a treat, especially after watching Katla on Netflix.
Despite the long drive, the frequent stops made it easy and enjoyable. Ian, our guide, was full of stories and made sure we got the most out of every moment. The small group (16 people) was a bonus—no waiting around.
We ended the day back in Reykjavik just in time to grab burgers and fries at Reykjavik Chips before they closed. If you’re not renting a car, this tour is a fantastic way to see some of Iceland’s most stunning landscapes without the hassle. Truly an unforgettable day.
