The Syllable in Phonetics | Syllable Structure| Types of Syllables
The Syllable : Any of the units into which a word is divided, containing a vowel and usually one or more consonents.( Source: Oxford Learners Dictionary )
Another way to identify the syllable in a word is to count the number of vowel sounds.
The structure of the syllable : It is made of two distinct kinds of sounds i.e vowels and consonants. The nucleous or the centre part is occupied by a vowel sound and the marginal places are occupied by consonants. Th econsonant which begins a syllable is called realing consonant and when it occures at the end is called Arresting Consonat.
Syllabic Consonants : L,M,N are called syllabic consonants specially when comes at the final position.
