In this video, I explored the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway in Kansas with a focus on the small towns and unique spots along the route rather than just the drive itself. Starting near the junction of I-70 and Route 156, I visited a number of interesting places, including the historic cattle town of Ellsworth, and Kanopolis, home to an old drive-in and Fort Harker remnants. I also made stops at a Cold War-era missile silo, the former rail point Carneiro, and Mushroom Rock State Park, the smallest state park in Kansas. Other highlights included the charming towns of Marquette, Lindsborg, and Roxbury, and I wrapped up the journey near the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge and Canton. The byway offered a fun mix of history, nature, and small-town charm—all packed into a relaxing, scenic drive through Ellsworth and McPherson counties.
