The Power of Unwavering Faith

Romans 4:5-8 and 18-21 provides us with a way to understand the nature of true, justifying faith and the vital importance of keeping our eyes fixed on Christ rather than our circumstances. It takes just as much spiritual energy to believe something negative is going to happen as it does to believe in God’s promises, yet only one leads to the peace that surpasses all understanding. By looking at the example of Abraham—who hoped against hope by focusing on God’s promise rather than his own physical limitations—we learn how to apply Philippians 4:6-7 to trade our anxiety for divine rest. Throughout this message, we define faith through the lens of Hebrews 11:1, recognizing that our evidence is found in the finished work of the Cross and not in our bank accounts or health. As we stand on the truth of Matthew 19:26, we are reminded that with God all things are possible, and we are called to stop giving the "worst-case scenario" our faith and instead offer it to the One who has already overcome the world (John 16:33). If we look at the waves, we will be tossed, but when we focus on Jesus, we find a steady foundation that cannot be shaken. To God be all the glory!
