Well-aged scotch whisky? Finished in sherry casks? Obviously, we were very intrigued and needed to taste them to fully appreciate them. The ‘Double Double’ series from Dewar’s marries incredibly well-aged whiskies with finishing in three different types of sherry casks for each expression. The 21 year old is finished in Oloroso. The 27 year is finished in Palo Cortado. The 32 year old is finished in Pedro Ximenez. It is very difficult to warp your head around these expressions from Dewar’s if you’ve only ever had the white label. These whiskies are completely different beasts! But are they good? Are they worth the money? Do they live up to the hype? Or exceed our Dewar’s expectations? We had to find out how these Scotch whiskies were in the ‘real world’ and not just on paper.
