Join Chef Susie Norris as she creates one of her most popular cookbook recipes: Applesauce.
Applesauce can be enjoyed on its own, or used to sweeten up plain yogurt for a snack or accompany a roasted pork chop at dinner.
A perfect staple for all seasons and a fun recipe to make and enjoy with family.
Ingredients:
1 pound (16 ounces) tart apples, about 4-5 apples (such as Golden Delicious,
Fuji, or Granny Smith), cored, peeled, and sliced 1/2-inch thick
1/4 cup (2 ounces) water
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
In a medium saucepan, combine the apples, water, sugars, lemon juice, salt, and cinnamon.
Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, or until the mixture resembles applesauce with some texture of apple slices still intact.
