Houghton-le-Spring : Rectory Park (which once was home to a Hawthorn grown from a cutting taken from the famous Glastonbury Thorn.
St Michael's church, possibly built on the site of a stone circle, definitely the burial place of Sarah Sanger, mother of 'Sir' George Sanger, victorian showman extrodinaire - she died on the road as the show was en route from North Shields to Darlington.
