The amazing Twiggy steps from the runway into the recording studio and creates her rendition of a 1930's standard, "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square", composed by the team of Sherwin and Maschwitz.
Like Twiggs herself, the vocal is jazzy and soulful, elegant and timeless. This version has become my personal favorite, even over that of Vera Lynn, widely considered the classic mistress of the song. This selection is from Twiggy's 1996 CD album, "London Pride, songs from the London stage"; the album was produced by Bruce Kimmel, musically directed and arranged by Todd Ellison, and orchestrated by Larry Moore. The label is Varese Sarabande Records and no infringement on copyright status is intended.
I do not own or profit from use of this music; this video is intended to teach people about Twiggy's incredible range of talent. Copyright disclaimer: under Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976, allowance is made for "fair use", for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair Use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, education or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair.
As for the stunning black and white photo portrait, I do not yet know the identity of the artist but would love to give credit to the proper party. The photo was bought from an online auction site and no further information is available at this time.
