Rhine River Facts!

In this video, we will learn some of the amazing facts about the Rhine River. We will discover how the Rhine river was formed and what makes it one of the main streams in Europe. The Rhine river is regarded as one of the most beautiful rivers in the world owing to its many castles, wineyards, and historical villages. The upper middle Rhine valley has been named a world historic site by Unesco. During World Wars I and II, the Rhine River played a significant role. During the 19th century, there were huge wars over possession and control of the Rhine River between Germany and France. Once, the Rhine River was considered one of the most polluted rivers in Europe. Due to a chemical leak that took place in Basel in 1986, which killed numerous species, this calamity culminated in the contamination of the whole Rhine river. In 1987, a Rhine action programme was devised to enhance the water quality and lower the discharges by 50–60 percent, which resulted in an increase in salmon in the Rhine river.
