Eurotrip Day 11 – Last Day in Switzerland! Hello Italy! Hello Milan!

Mixed feelings today as we say goodbye to beautiful Switzerland!
We left early from our hotel in Zurich and rode the bus through stunning views- snowy mountains, serene lakes, and cute little villages. We even passed through the Gotthard Tunnel, one of the longest in the world- 17 km long and took us about 30 minutes to get through!
Our first stop was Bellinzona, a charming town with three medieval castles. We visited Castelgrande, which is on a hill and has amazing views. These castles are actually UNESCO World Heritage Sites- super cool to see up close.
Then we crossed the border into Italy! First stop: Como. We had lunch there and finally had our first real Italian pizza, lasagna, and carbonara- so good! Since it’s Black Saturday, we also took some time to go inside the beautiful Cathedral of Como and prayed.
We ended the day in Milan and headed our way to the famous Piazza del Duomo. The Duomo Cathedral is massive and so detailed- it took six centuries to build! Just wow. We also passed by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a fancy shopping mall with lots of luxury brands. We didn’t shop- just took photos. Hehe.
Before heading to our hotel, we were so happy to find a nearby supermarket with cooked rice and roast chicken for dinner- simple joys!
