Second video of this series. Again, I've tried to compile scenes showing how different they are based on various categories. Here, I'm primarily looking at how they perceive their spawn's value and how they speak to their spawn.
My interpretation is based on in-game dialogue selected during a playthrough with a resist Dark Urge and speaking to Cazador with and without Astarion. I've included as many dialogue trees as possible for context.
Again, even if you picked every single negative dialogue option for Ascended Astarion, he doesn't speak to or about Durge the way Cazador speaks to and about Astarion.
1). Fear: Astarion was afraid and doesn't want the same for Durge.
0:01 – Act 2: Sceleritas Fel confirming Astarion's fear
0:10 – Act 3: Reassures you not to be afraid before ascension
0:27 – Act 3: Reassures you not to be afraid after ascension
2). Perception of their spawn's worth:
1:00 – Act 3: Cazador downplays Astarion's value to inflate his own.
1:19 – Act 3: AA telling you that you're perfect before and after becoming his spawn.
1:31 – Act 3: Cazador is insecure/immature so he devalues Astarion while also claiming credit for Astarion's value
1:40 – Act 3: AA is confident/mature enough to credit you for his power and thanks you, twice.
2:03 – Act 3: Cazador belittles Astarion while Astarion compliments Durge's intelligence and skills
3). Creator's Belief in their Creation:
2:31 – Act 3 & End Game: AA believes his spawn can take over the world - Cazador doesn't think Astarion is capable of anything.
