🚨 Phone Scam Alert 🚨
We’re getting reports of scammers calling people in Kanawha County and pretending to be deputies with the Sheriff’s Office. They claim you have a warrant and demand money to “make it go away.”
Let’s be clear: this is a scam.
Deputies will never call and ask you to pay over the phone to avoid arrest. Warrants are handled in person, through the courts, not with gift cards, cash apps, or wire transfers.
If you get a call like this, hang up immediately and report it. If you’re unsure, you can always verify by calling us directly at 304-357-0169.
Don’t let these crooks trick you or your loved ones. Tell your family, especially elderly relatives, so nobody falls victim to this scam.
