The VERY FIRST Bombing of Berlin during World War II

On 7 June 1940, Captain Henri Daillière led the first Allied bombing raid on Berlin during World War II. Flying a French Farman F.223.4 heavy bomber named Jules Verne, Daillière and his crew launched from Bordeaux-Mérignac, navigating over 1,700 km to reach the German capital. Though the raid caused minimal physical damage, it shocked the German leadership and boosted French morale during a grim phase of the war. The operation demonstrated that Berlin was within Allied reach, even before the fall of France. This daring mission remains a lesser-known yet remarkable feat of early wartime aviation and psychological warfare.
