Not long ago, Al Rantisi Children’s Hospital in Gaza was filled with rubble. Today, its emergency department is treating more than 300 children every day.
In just one month, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams cleared the debris and rebuilt the hospital’s emergency room alongside the Ministry of Health. We’re also providing technical support to health workers at the hospital.
This essential work is at risk as Israel is threatening to ban MSF and other nongovernmental organizations from working in Gaza, a cynical and calculated attempt to prevent aid groups from providing vital services.
Palestinians need more humanitarian aid—not less. Medical needs in Gaza remain overwhelming, especially during winter, and the services that are available fall far short of the needs.
MSF continues to engage with Israeli authorities so that we can maintain our vital activities and support Gaza’s decimated health system.
