The Old Farm Ruins

Welcome to Guy Haddows Farm Ruins, these Ruins are located in Coalburn’s Famous Open Cast called Dalquhandy.

Small backstory of Coalburn:-

Coalburn is a very small village in Scotland close to Lanark.
Coalburn was a mining village during the First World War up until 1968 when the last mine was closed for mining coal, after the mines were closed, the majority of the miners moved up to Ayrshire, however some moved to another country to work.
Small backstory of the farm:-

The farm was last in production in 1978, the last time someone lived in it was the early 1980’s then the open cast took the land over and started mining for coal, the farm was then left and then came ruins.

The Small backstory of the Open Cast:-

The open cast was famous for being one of Europe’s largest open cast providing coal and only lasted 20 years of operation, today the open cast has changed, it’s now being used for going walks with families and friends. But that’s not the biggest change, the biggest change that’s happening is the open cast will be getting windmills built in many areas. This project started late last year and the process of the windmills being built is happening as we speak.
