This piece of steel known as C-40 came from Tower One and once spanned floors 98-101 just above where the first plane entered. The steel came from the NIST in Gaithersburg, MD and was part of the federal investigation into the collapse of the towers. It is 18.5 feet tall and weighs approximately 2.3 tons. The process to obtain the steel took 7 years. C-40 was installed at the Westerville Fire Fighters Memorial at First Responders Park on August 31, 2010 and dedicated on September 6, 2011. The steel will serve as an educational piece for generations to come on September 11, 2001. Always Remember, Never Forget.
A fire fighter sculpture known as The Crossing by Steph Geddes and Robert Moore from Cincinnati will be dedicated on October 9, 2011. The sculpture will be in the likeness of Dave Theisen a Westerville FF killed in the line of duty on Feb.5, 1998 in his hometown of Crooksville, OH while fighting a basement fire. A Tribute to One, A Monument for All.
