Be Kind by Alex G (SHAYLEE cover)

this song famously only exists in the form of a lo-fi cellphone video taken of alex performing the song in a stairwell. it's got this weird, mesmerizing quality to it, especially in the chromatic bass moves in the guitar part. i wanted to create a fully fleshed-out version of it in the way i imagine alex might do it. granted, i am me, so it's definitely more in line with how i would do it. i still tried to use some of the vocal transformer plug-in in Logic on the backing vocals to get that pitched up stuff that Alex does in so many of his recordings, as well as some melancholic mellotron sound effect samples to give the song some more texture. with how i played the leads, it's more in line with how Rocket and House of Sugar sound than the era in which he wrote it, which is presumably closer to the RULES era.
