Today, we’re visiting Kim Bong Woodcarving Village, a small but incredibly meaningful place located just across the Thu Bon River from Hoi An.

For more than five centuries, craftsmen here have worked in quiet rhythm with nature. In the 16th century, when Hoi An was a thriving port welcoming ships from distant lands, Kim Bong artisans were already carving the soul of the town—its doors, its beams, its boats. What you admire in the old streets of Hoi An often began here, in this peaceful village by the water.

In this video, you’ll see how skilled artisans transform raw wood into boats, furniture, and intricate carvings—many made entirely by hand. Kim Bong craftsmen once helped build Hoi An’s historic houses, temples, and boats, and their legacy still lives on today.

This is one of those places where time slows down, craftsmanship speaks quietly, and culture feels deeply personal.
