Claret's stay in Madrid for 11 years (1857-1868) meant that his presence also extended to the outskirts of the capital, particularly to the places related to the Royal Household to which he was so closely linked due to his role as Confessor to Queen Isabella II. The three walks are each designed around the Royal Sites, La Granja, El Escorial, and Aranjuez, and the three cities around Madrid, Segovia, Avila, and Toledo.
This first Itinerary will focus on the northwest of Madrid. This is undoubtedly the area with the highest density of Claret's presence.
