Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that unauthorized Afghan nationals are still active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and that the provincial government is not fully cooperating in the repatriation process. He said that federal authorities have returned 1.1 million Afghan nationals since April 2025, while several camps closed by the federal government remain operational in KP.

During a press conference in Lahore, the Minister noted that several recent security incidents involved individuals who entered Pakistan illegally, urging KP authorities to prioritize national policy over politics. He emphasized that all unauthorized foreign nationals should return voluntarily, warning that re-entry would lead to legal consequences.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon confirmed two cross-border attacks within a week, resulting in five fatalities — including Chinese nationals — and several injuries. Tajikistan has urged Afghan authorities to prevent such incidents and ensure that armed groups do not use their territory for cross-border violence.

Meanwhile, Iran–Pakistan relations are seeing a positive shift. Iran’s National Security Chief Ali Larijani expressed strong support for Pakistan, calling the country “deeply important” and signaling readiness for full cooperation. This development reflects changing regional alignments, with President Asif Ali Zardari playing a key role in strengthening diplomatic, security, and energy ties between the two neighbors.
