Panasonic lend me a DVX200 4K to test. Driving 8-bit 4.2.0 to its edges!
Footage was shot in V-log L UHD ( 3840x2160) giving it 12 stops of dynamic range. The recorded file is MP4 and 8 bit 4.2.0. Internal recording on a SDHC card. Before editing converted to Prores 422 maintaining UHD dimension and edited in an UHD timeline. After editing this UHD version was converteert to .mp4 and uploaded toYoutube where it can be played back in 4K. The DVX200 offers the possibility to record 10 bit 422 via HDMI on an external recorder. Panasonic sugest using an ATOMOS ASSASIN and record a flavour of Prores 422 directly. Another colour correcting test of the DVX200 could be found here • DVX200, V-log L graded shots UHD upload

These shots were made in a run and gun situation. I deliberately made exposure and white balance mistakes making it hard to colour correct and grade which is noticable. In some cases the footage was beyond being colour correctable and gradable. Undertsandable since it is 8-bit 422. The camera will deliver a nice picture though, if you do not exagurate in exposure and white balance mistakes. But under exposure in combination with an oppositie white balance should be avoided at all times. In the Sail clip only 4 shots were taken with the camera on tripod, and that are not the ones you think . Build in stabelizing over 5 axes is working pretty well.
In spite of a consumer type operation of the high quality Leica lens it is a nice camera to work with. It is however a handhold camcorder.
