Are you ever short on time and want to get your art going fast? Here is what I do...I focus on one idea. I combine aspects of color, shape, design, value, and texture that are highly different. For example, instead of spending time trying to make colors look good with one another, I let go of this idea and choose colors that are as different from one another as possible. A light yellow might sit next to a deep dark purple or an orangey red next to a super dark thalo green, for example. This is fast because I am not being refined or particularly thoughtful about my choices. The surprising result of this strategy is that often; it generates starts that are particularly interesting and different from what you would ordinarily make.
I use this approach in my practice regularly. Maybe this could be helpful fo you too.
