Pov Pob: Hmong New Year Ball Toss Tradition

Pov pob, which takes place at all Hmong New Year celebrations across the world, is the art of making a connection to one another through tossing a ball back and forth. The history of it, was done to court one another, in hope that it will lead to marriage. Folktale songs were sung between ball tossers in place of conversations. Nowadays, it is an activity done by many people to socialize and have fun. At times, it is being done between a couple, friends or family members having fun with throwing and catching the ball.
