'We are starting back at 0': Couples out thousands after Tenn. wedding venue disaster

Some Mid-state couples are facing a wedding nightmare. They said they are out thousands of dollars after their wedding venue filed for bankruptcy.

It's supposed to be a joyous holiday season, but for the couples impacted by the cancellations, it's far from it.

Reagan Fuller and Caitlynn Pryor said they met at Tennessee Twisted Oaks three years ago.

"When I first met her (Pryor), there was something different," said Fuller.

They fell in love and got engaged earlier this year.

"I saw these Post-it notes on the counter, then there was a ring on top of them," said Pryor, "I’ve been waiting 30 years for this."

The couple said they paid $5,000 to get married at the Shaken Glass Venue in Woodbury, Tennessee.

"To us $5,000 isn’t just a small amount," said Fuller.
It's the biggest days of their lives, and they're hoping to celebrate it at their handpicked venue, but they said that vision had been shattered.

"Told us it would be fulfilled and it wasn’t," said Fuller.

Despite sending 140 save-the-date wedding invitations, the bride and groom said the owner of the venue said they are filing for bankruptcy, and the wedding was cancelled.

"We are starting back at 0 with 90 days, three months to go," said Fuller.

Dozens of other couples posted on Facebook, going through the same thing, including Alexandra Piper.

"How much are you out?" I asked her.

"$8,500," she replied.

She said her fiancée, Alex Newton, works two jobs to chip in, and her dad helped pay a majority of the $8,500.

It's money they and the other couples might not see.

"Angry about it," said Piper. "I mean, I also feel validated, that I'm not alone."

Rhonda Bentley, the owner of the Cake Lady & Charcuteries Too is helping raise money for the couples and offering discounts for catering.
