SEALCOATING * REPAIRING THE DAMAGED DRIVEWAY * (TIME =9m 39s)
On Friday, May 29th, 2020 Horizon delivered the dumpster to one of our job sites in Pennington, NJ, and placed it on a driveway. Only next day the homeowner called me with a message about the sticky substance leaking from the dumpster onto his driveway. His two dogs who play outside stepped into the sticky toxic substance and brought it to his house on their paws. I went right away to cover the mess with the pieces of plywood supported by bricks. I photographed the dumpster, it was full of holes in its corroded body. Inside there was the huge spill of the black sticky substance which was squeezing through the holes in the dumpster and dripping onto the asphalt driveway.
On Monday Horizon removed defective dumpster, but the truck drove over the spill and reprinted the dark tire marks all along the driveway. The same day on the late afternoon - after 60 phone calls – Horizon send the “clean up man”, who walked around the spill, talked on the phone long time, took some pictures, and said: “Nothing can be done”. After this, Horizon stopped answering the phone calls from me.
Next day I bought some driveway clean up detergent from Home Depot, and we tried to scratch the sticky tar from the surface of the driveway, and remove the stain, but it didn’t work. Homeowners did not like our clean up job, and we decided, we have to re-seal the entire driveway.
