Airbus has a quite sophisticated Auto Flight System (AFS). Using the Airbus 350 and Airbus 380 as examples, I will clarify the AFS architecture, and the structure and logic of the Primary Flight Control and Guidance Computers. Today I introduce Flight Guidance, as one of the AFS tasks, and discuss the difference between the selected- and managed guidance setup and philosophy. Finally we will look at the Flight Director (FD) visualisation.- Enjoy.
