Come join me as I figure out a hedgehog hairstyle for 1780s historical costuming, and one that is more appropriate for 1790s ensembles using two Boogie Babe wigs that I bought on Amazon.
The “?!” in the thumbnail of my new YouTube video is for two reasons.
This wig has increased in price on ye ole Amazon over the last year, from around $10 last fall to about $18.50 today. Inflation? Increased demand from historical costumers looking to complete their late eighteenth century looks? Both? Still, with tax, it’s only about $20 for a wig you can throw on with a silk scarf for a #1790s look, or do a few more elaborate modifications to achieve something akin to a #1780s #hedgehoghairstyle.
The other reason is that the price does not reflect the environmental cost of plastic in our modern age. It is the curse (and the skill) of the environmental scientist to envision the beginning to the end of any manufactured good—from the extraction of the natural resources, the energy and water required to transport, produce, and package products, and their end game—whether they end up as trash or are remade into something else.
