Solving an interesting problem with Intel NUC CMOS battery replacement (Reverse Polarity)

This pertains to the CMOS battery in the NUC6i5SYH. May apply to other units as well if Intel did a non-standard polarity on their CMOS batteries. Since it is reverse from what most laptops use when plugged in it will just short out the battery. First you want to compare the original to the replacement battery. If you want to be extra certain you can check the pins on the header and see which one goes to ground. With something pointy you can pry on the locking tabs for the connector to release the pins. Then just reinsert them in the correct orientation.
