Enjoy the second single of Cross-Eyed Possum’s newest album “Out On My Own,” coming this July! “Whipping Post” is a song by The Allman Brothers, and has been one of the biggest influences of the band. Jason and Jonah have been playing “Whipping Post” on stages since they were 12 years old.

An Americana identical twin brother led trio, meet Cross-Eyed Possum! Jason Howard, Jonah Howard, and Keenan Hammack banded together and won 1st place in the 2022 Pickin’ In The Pines Band Contest. The group performs mostly original music written that was inspired by the mix of genres they grew up with (Rock n Roll, Bluegrass, Folk), their Jazz and Classical university experiences, and their stories of life on the road. The Cross-Eyed Possum has performed in several festivals. They shared the bills with Fantastic Negrito, Katie Pruitt, Sierra Hull, and Dawes. They tour the country in their van and have a YouTube channel that shares these adventures, @VanLifeBandLife.

After motivation from multiple tours across the states, the brothers thought back to their best childhood memories: busking at bluegrass festivals! From here the band’s goal became clear. From the time they were 11 they have been determined to one day play on the stages that they had grown up seeing their idols gracing (thanks to the kindness of strangers who would throw a ticket or two into their guitar case). Another 11 years later this dream has started to come true. After college education in music, performances in local festivals and some out of town ones, the band’s win at Pickin’ in the Pines foreshadows an exciting future at acoustic festivals like the ones the brothers grew up loving.
