This walk starts, and ends at the Old Dungeon Ghyll in the stunning Langdale Valley. Working our way to Stool End Farm we will begin our ascent up The Band this is a steady incline which will give us most of our height for the day. The views grow as we continue our way up to the Climbers Traverse. We turn off the main track on to a faint path at the cairns and take the Climbers Traverse over to Great Slab and then summit Bowfell.
After admiring the views we head over to the Three Tarns and ascend to work our way over Crinkle Crags. Summiting at Long Top we soon get on to the steady down toward Red Tarn and once there we turn down the side of Pike o Blisco and work our way past waterfalls to the valley floor. We once again pass through the farm and head to the Old Dungeon Ghyll for a well earned pint.
This route contains 2 of the 6 best fells in The Lake District according to Wainwright and it is one of the best walks in Lakeland. If you are looking for a unique hike in England's Lake District, this circular walk in Langdale Valley is hard to beat.
