Greetings All,
I got an email from Mark Ritter over at Cobalt 327 on the 'Bay about a customer who was having issues with installing an abutment washer into a widebody project gun he was working on. The abutment washer was failing to engage the conpression chamber and falling through the reciever assembly which sparked the question of which abutment washer should be used, the small abutment washer (O.D. .80-ish) common to the Daisy Model 25, the #111 Model 40 and others or the large abutment washer (O.D. .89-ish) used by the pre-1978 Red Ryders and other models of the same vintage.
I didn't know for sure but the wide body Daisy's do use the small compression cups and small abutment seals so I assumed thier metal abutment washers would be of the same size. Assuming is not knowing so I grabbed one of my widebody project guns out of the remuda and proceeded to find out. Spoiler Alert! They use the small abutment washer!
Thanks for watching!
