Staunton’s downtown has a calm pace in the morning — a mix of historic architecture, quiet streets, and the start of daily routines.
We left the hotel just after sunrise, when the streets were mostly empty and the summer sounds of cicadas, birds, and the low hum AC units carried through the air. The walk passed Woodrow Wilson’s Presidential Library, along Beverly Street with its historic storefronts, and through the residential neighborhood on Church Street. We stopped by the creek near Crucible Coffee before heading inside, then continued on to the train depot and old mill before returning to the hotel.
