The Shikra (Accipiter badius), also known as the Little Banded Goshawk, is one of Pakistan’s most fascinating resident raptors. 🦅
This small hawk may look modest in size, but in Lahore’s gardens and agricultural patches, it is feared by sparrows, doves, mynas, and other small birds. Its sudden, lightning-fast attacks make it a true terrorizer of urban habitats.

In this documentary, filmed around my garden in Lahore, we explore the life of the Shikra — its size, hunting behavior, prey, distribution, and its role as a natural predator keeping ecosystems balanced. 🌍

Shikras are found across Asia, from the Middle East to Southeast Asia, but here in Pakistan they have adapted remarkably well to city life. Even in the middle of a concrete jungle, they thrive — proving how resilient nature can be.
