The comments made by Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema when celebrating the party's fourth Anniversary in Durban have caused a stir. Malema waged a scathing attack on the Indian community for their treatment of black workers. EFF says it is fully behind its Commander-In-Chief's comments, and would
never apologise for condemning oppression. The remarks have attracted a lot of interest, given sporadic incidents of racial tensions and attacks in some parts of the country. Malema made some controversial comments about the Indian community in 2011, but later apologised. He was the leader of the ANC Youth League at the time. Meanwhile, the South African Minority Rights Equality Movement has laid criminal charges against the EFF leader.
