How to ● Dry a Wet Fitted Basement Carpet ( With Little Effort ! )

This is by far the easiest way to dry a wet fitted carpet in your basement. You have a choice of 3 things. Remove it and toss it, remove it and hang it out to dry or leave it where it is and create a small slit in the carpet and sit back and relax while it dries. It is by far the easiest method to completely dry it without removing it by only creating a small slit. First use your shop vac to suck up as much of the water as you can, secondly, cut a small slit in the carpet in a non traffic or hidden area big enough to insert the end of a shop vac. Thirdly, attach the shop vac hose to the blowing side of the shop vac and take the other end and insert it into the slit in the carpet. Now the easy part starts. Just turn on the vacuum and watch the whole carpet levitate from the warm shop vac air being blown between the carpet and the floor. The warm air will travel threw all the fibres of the carpet evenly and dry it. Now let it run for days until it is dry. Shop vacs can run for very long periods of time without a problem. It's best to not leave it running while you are not at home just to be sure. Once it's dry you can try cutting a slit in the under-padding and blow the air between the padding and floor to help it dry further. Sometimes the under-padding isn't porous enough to let air escape so experiment to see if it will work. Good luck. You don't need it though. This is too easy!
