⚠️ Apex Suspension Stiction Fix? Today I tested the viral “3D-printed wiper seal” solution that people claim eliminates stiction on the Apex suspension… and I’m giving you the real result after a full ride + teardown. I also break down air shock vs coil shock, what actually affects ride quality the most, and why your tire choice might matter more than any suspension mod.
At the start, I swapped the factory wiper seals (which feel too tight / undersized) for 3D-printed flexible wipers that felt amazing at first—less friction, smoother travel, better small-bump compliance. But after one real-world ride (mud, rocks, rim shots, jumps), the suspension got sticky and creaky fast… and the “fix” started letting dirt into the inner seal. So I tore the wheel down (again 😅), cleaned everything out, packed it with grease, added seal lube, and went back to what actually works.

I’m also running a Fox Float X Factory (2025) air shock and talk about what I love about it (floaty, plush over chatter) and what I don’t (progressive feel, bottom-outs, control on chunky downhill, air pressure behavior). If you’re trying to get the Apex to use full travel and hit that highest suspension position for trail clearance, shock choice matters.
Then we get into the tire debate: I rode the stock TNT street tire tubeless on trail/rock and compared it to my experience with the Shinko 241 (tube-type) and why I don’t trust it after a scary deformation moment. Street tires can make you a better rider… but they can also punish you when you tag rocks at weird angles.
