Northwest Airlines (NWA) began flying in 1926 carrying air mail from the Twin Cities to Chicago. Over the next 83 years, the airline grew into one of the world's largest airlines flying routes across the US, to Asia and Europe before being purchased by Delta Airlines.
Bruce Kitt, a former NWA mechanic and Archive Director for the Northwest Airlines History Center joins host Steve Francisco in this episode for a look back at the remarkable story of Northwest Airlines.
Did you know that Northwest partnered with the Mayo Clinic to develop inflight oxygen masks that made high-altitude flying possible? NWA also played a crucial role in World War II in building an air bridge from the US, across Canada, and to Alaska and Asia.
