Bola Ige was a leader of the progressives school of politics in Nigeria until his tragic death on 23 December 2001 at the age of 71. He was the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Nigeria when he was assassinated in his home in Ibadan.
Ige rose to political stardom when he became the Governor of Oyo State from 1979 - 1983 on the platform of Obafemi Awolowo led Unity Party of Nigeria UPN. His education policy opened the doors of knowledge to a great number of citizens in search of progress.
