Top 6 Clash ERUPTS Late On! Basford United Sink Corby in Added Time

What a night under the lights at Greenwich Avenue as 5th-placed Basford United hosted 6th-placed Corby Town in a huge Northern Premier League Division One clash!

Before kick-off, I caught up with Basford media man Josh, who gave me some great insight into tonight’s game, the squad, and the ambitions for the rest of the season. Confidence was high around the ground — and you could feel the importance of this one!

Corby started the brighter of the two sides, pressing well and causing early problems, but Basford slowly grew into the game and began to take control.

⚽ 40' – Breakthrough!
Basford’s main man up top beat the keeper, stayed composed and rolled the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0. Moments later, Basford should have doubled the lead, smashing the post from close range.

1-0 at half-time.
Second half, Corby regrouped and found their equaliser around the hour mark — a deserved goal after sustained pressure.

The game looked destined to finish level… until the 91st minute.

⚽ 91' – DRAMA!
A Corby defender lost the ball on the edge of his own box and the Basford forward reacted quickest, lifting a beautiful chip over the keeper and sending the Basford fans behind the goal absolutely wild!

Corby pushed for a late leveller but Basford held firm and secured a massive 2-1 win.
