Indigenous Protest at Jantar Mantar | Triprasa Rally for Accord and Autonomy | 9th September 2025

On 9 September 2025, the Tiprasa indigenous community of Tripura, led by the TIPRA Motha Party under Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, staged a major demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
The rally demanded:
1️⃣ Full implementation of the Tiprasa Accord (signed on 2 March 2024 in Delhi in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah).
2️⃣ Constitutional recognition and autonomy, often referred to as Greater Tipraland.
3️⃣ Strict action against illegal immigration from Bangladesh and protection of indigenous land rights.

The protest highlights long-standing concerns of Tripura’s tribal population regarding identity, autonomy, and demographic pressures. This movement is being described as peaceful but politically significant, with TIPRA Motha warning it may withdraw support from the ruling BJP if the Accord is not implemented.
