On the evening of Thursday 5 June 2025 the Lurgan Townscape Heritage Scheme supported a performance of Handel’s masterpiece oratorio ‘Messiah’ by the TU Dublin Conservatoire Choral and Orchestral Society at Brownlow Castle as part of the Brownlow Festival organised by Brownlow Castle and the Friends of Shankill Graveyard.
Set within the grandeur of the Castle’s historic ballroom, this fully booked event offered a unique blend of classical music and fine dining and commemorated the occasion when William Brownlow’s played the harpsichord at the very first performance of the Messiah in Dublin in 1742.
