Sulfur is a non-metallic element with the chemical symbol S and atomic number 16. Sulfur can have multiple oxidation states and forms, commonly seen as -2, 0, +4, +6, existing in nature as the elemental form, sulfides, or sulfates. The elemental forms include yellow crystalline sulfur and red liquid sulfur. There are many sulfides such as hydrogen sulfide, iron sulfide, copper sulfide, varying in color and properties. Many sulfates also exist, such as sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, calcium sulfate, which serve as raw materials or by-products for various industries and agriculture.

Life cannot exist without sulfur.
