Steven Lukes is a prominent social and political theorist whose name is well-known in countless different fields. He is best known for introducing the third dimension of power; an invisible form of power which manifests itself through the influence of people's thoughts and wishes, even in cases where this is against their own self-interest. He has also written on Marxism, moral relativism, and Émile Durkheim, among many other topics.
Fonie Mitsopoulou, the Deputy Editor of Interviews, and Professor Lukes discuss the contemporary dynamics and distribution of power, the discipline of sociology and how it interacts with other fields, as well as political humour.
