VIDEO: A TRIBUTE TO RICHARD JEFFERIES 1940s

These edited highlights are from an amateur film made (it's believed) in the lates 1940s, about the writer and naturalist Richard Jefferies, who was born at Coate Water, near Swindon, in 1848.

The drama tells of his early years growing up with nature in the fields and hills around his home, and which so inspired his later writing.

Jefferies is remembered for his keen observation of life in Victorian rural England, and among his highly regarded works is Bevis, a novel written in 1882, and his autobiography, The Story of my Heart, written in 1883.
